Yesterday I replaced the stock eVGA HSF on my 6800GS with a Zalman Vf700-cu, and as I was cleaning off the memmory and GPU I noticed, at the top right screw hole, part of the white lining on top of the board was peeling. At first I thought it was just paint, but then I noticed it was matalic. So I took a pair of tweezers and tucked the peice down inside the screw hole as I didn't want to try to totally remove since I'm not sure if that would only cause the problem to get worse. I have not noticed any issues since I put ont he new cooler and the screw hole where that piece is does not have a screw in it since the Vf700-cu only needs two screws to hold it in place.
My Idel and Load temps are 38C and 55C respectivly and I have not had any problems since I put the card back in place. But what is this white matterial? What is it used for? Is my current situation and issue? Should I RMA the card?
