I have a problem with usb and usb extensions

So I have 4 usb ports on the mobo.

But for some reason when I ad 3 ro 4 things often 1 or 2 stop workin gor work intermitetnly.

However as I often need more than 4 usb i put in the 4th slot a sub extension. So I may then put 2 or 3 things in the extension. Such as 360 contorller, joystick, sometimes sony phone connector etc...


Why does it often stop working? Can my Pc not power all the usb stuff? Or is some oiff the usb ports faulty?

Sounds like you need a powered USB hub. The drain on the socket(s) must be too much for your system, hence it only working intermittently.

Depending upon the power drawer from the things plugged in, your PSU might not be supplying enough power.

cool damn i dont have enough plug sockets lol...I will need to try this.

On a related note. Is it ok or a bad idea to put a double adapter inside a 4 plug extension?

Or to have like in the wall socket a double adapter with one socket off adapter ocnnected to 4 plug extension and the other adapter plug in powered usb. Is this ok?
