OK this might not be the place, and if it isn't then mods please delete.

I've had a website idea for some time now, and tonight I've decided I'd really like this to happen, professionally.

Where do I go to ask for quotes / help with idea's and technicalities of this website?

Is it ok for me to approach people in this subforum? People in here have some amazing skills and thought I'd ask what path I need to take.

Thanks guys!

:)

Do you have design skills? It always a good idea to maybe design a mock up of the laypout and functionality.

MY friend who is a graphics designer does mock ups becuase cant code for ****! I do a bit of both

I always do my own. Im not amazing or anything but it feels much better to just have a go.

Two of my sites i have made for people are.

www.futuretooling.co.uk and www.stokedrivinglessons.co.uk

Erm what's stopping you from having a go yourself?

The only experience I have with websites is iWeb on Mac, and looking into Squarespace.

I guess this idea I have will require multiple formats, not available pre-made like in the above etc....

I have jotted down on paper how I'd like the website to look, custom logo ideas etc and what sub-content but I'm no where near skilful enough.

Write up a project specification.

What you need, every aspect of the site you can think of from style/looks to how things will function on the page.

Contact agency's or freelancers that have a good portfolio or are well recognised and go from there.

Don't go in expecting the website for £250, it will be templated crap that you won't be able to update easily in the future. You get what you pay for. (Seems like I say this over and over in these forums :p)

You can't ask for people to email/PM you via the forums but if you saw their work from clicking on a picture in their sig or by googling their name etc

Yup, as soon as you start to mention totally bespoke features, the price jumps considerably.
