Cooking on Saturday and managed to break the oven (it tripped out and took most the lights with it), the sparky has been round and fixed most the lights in the house now but the kitchen lights and the oven (other than the gas hob) still don't work.

I have a whole chicken in the fridge though that needs cooking tomorrow (don't want to freeze it) but not sure what I can do with it on a gas hob other than a stew but looking for something different as I've been eating a lot of stew recently.

What recipes can people recommend? I'm not a fussy eater to be honest but don't really want to cook anything difficult and I can go and get extra ingredients from ASDA tomorrow as don't really have anything in other than chopped tomatoes, garlic and herbs etc.

I'm going to be cutting the chicken into thighs / drumsticks / breasts / wings etc so may even try two recipes if I like the look of a few. Will be feeding me for the day and be taking some to lunch with me on Thursday (off today).

Hit me with what you've got. :)

Turns out the chicken had gone bad anyway. :(

Will buy more chicken though and try out some of the ideas people have given.

Thanks. :)

This, waste of good meat.

Spatchock it in future and jerky it up.

I know. According to the date on it I should have still been able to use it yesterday but when I opened it the smell didn't really appealling so I threw it away. :(

Spatchocking definately looks like a winner next time I buy a whole chicken. Usually just buy legs and wings to be fair.
