Hi, I've just bought the car in the title and now I'm trying to insure it. When I put my registration number in on Moneysupermarket I'm told it must either be an Envoy, LS or Club. But it doesn't mention anywhere on the car or on the registration document which type it is. How could I find this out?

Thanks.

does it have aircon ? alloys ? electric front windows ? etc.. what toys does it have.

It has air con, electric front windows, 5-doors. I think it has alloys, but they're really naff. Will double check that. The radio has been taken out so not sure what it was. That's all I can think of.

Envoy

Club

LS

Theirs one more 5-door 1.7 DTI but its in a different tax bracket.

I've just noticed that the CO2 emission of 130G/KM (according to the V5) doesn't tie up with any of them (they're all 126G/KM).

Its one of the three...

unfortunately all 3 had electric front windows as standard. No radio to go one, and all 3 models had optional aircon, except on the club where it was standard.

Heres the full list

Alloys are probably going to be your best way to guess.

Here's the club alloys

LS and envoy didnt have alloys so i'd guess club out of the three.

Thanks MrLOL. It has alloys in the sense that the hubcaps are made of metal. But they look pretty rubbish, not like those...

I'll try to take a picture in the light tomorrow.

I noticed only the LS and the Club have the option of black (mine is black) - but you had to pay extra for it. Its ex-CID. I can't imagine they'd pay for an optional extra...

EDIT:

Think I may have cracked it. This one has the same alloys as mine and its an envoy:

Do you think that would guarantee mines an envoy?

EDIT 2:

OK. I guess they're steel, not alloy!

EDIT 3:

Could be the LS *OR* the Envoy because they both come with steel wheels as standard, whereas the Club comes with Alloys.

Black isn't an option on the Envoy, so I guess its an LS.

It might even not be a standard spec car as its ex police. Ex police E39 and E53 BMW's for example are a trim level which was never sold retail in the UK. They are an EU spec.

That would explain a lot! In that case the insurance company probably doesn't have a quote for my trim. What do you think I should do?

For the sake of completion. I rang my insurer back again and this time they told me it was registered with the DVLA as an Envoy. That doesn't make any sense, but there you go.

So, next question, in order to fit an aftermarket DIN head unit, what connector thingy do I need? Is it this:

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-connects2-ct20vx02_p-24508.htm

This is the head unit by the way: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/ica-in-car-usb-and-made-for-ipod/cdx-gt530ui

I've also read about full fitting kits that can be obtained from a Vauxhall dealer? Should I be going for that?

Part of me just wants to get Halfords to fit it but I'm worried they won't do it properly.

I wouldn't bother paying halfords £40 to fit it. The astra should just be a matter of taking the old one out, fitting facia(don't think it needs it),fitting new cage, fit iso block and slide the unit in.

All of that but without the Facia. :)
