Hoping to get my delivery tomorrow ( I only just ordered at 3pm - ps OCUK your time looks as though its still an hour out) and selected sat delivery but being first order not sure whether it will take extra time processing

Anyway

Here is what My system should end up as:

SN25P
X2 4200
1GB corsair ram
200Gb WD 8mb cache hdd
Either X800XL / 7800GT (whichever is quieter)
Pioneer DVR-111DBK
WinXP
Dell 1905FP / LG 26" HDTV

music to be fed into a Sony 5.1 cinema amp, but unfortunately I only have creature II 2.1 speakers atm

Good point ( I meant Saturday) but no despatched email as yet :( so looks like it will be Tuesady, which is a real bummer as I am at work early all next week, so will either have to wait til next weekend or collect it myself (without a car)

Thank you I will do

Just for the record, I have always had great service from OCUK, I wasnt complaiing - just marking potential disappointment is all

Thank you - sent a webnote and awaiting reply , I know they will be busy today, so as you say as long as I know either way I am better off.

Thanks again

arrgggggghhhhhhhhhhh somethng really minor was out of stock (a wireless bridge) and no one contacted me to tell me this yesterday

Phoned up and it was really easy to change over to a similar product from different manufacturer ( at the same price) but that of course has completely messed up the delivery

I dont think i will be gaming much, I was trying to keep to a budget also and using what I have in my spares bucket - including Geil and Crucial 1Gb packs, but thank you for the advice

I dont think you read the whole thread, as I already have a 7800GT as in My original post , so not thinking of spending £250+ on a 7900GT

The only thing I might do is go for a low spec silent card for around £60 , but that will only be after I have got the chassis and seen how loud the cards I already have are in 2d mode, as it will predominantly used as an mp3 server thru my amp to go to sleep to ( I am forever forgetting to recharge My ipod) and now I have got a small telly for the bedroom, possibly doing the odd dvd also ( and playing around with ffdshow etc)

appologies didnt actuually mention graphics card was from spares but I have both an X800XL and a 7800GT both laying around doing nothing ( and I know I wont get that much for the X800 but thinking it MIGHT be too loud in such a small chassis at night, which is why I have hung onto the 7800GT)

either can be significantly quietened by adding a Zalman, I have had them fitted on an X800XTPE and an 7800GTX in my SN25P

I have a stock cooled 7800gtx in mine with my opty at 2.6 and I can sleep easily, the loudest thing is the ocassional read/write to the HD while downloading HD videos :)

Thank you for this, I dont however trust myself with aftersale mods to a decent card so will see what its like au natural

I was thinking about the hdd also, hopefully my maxtor will be ok but if I need to get a spinpoint ( i think these are meant to be quieter) then I will

I got my 25P late this afternoon and it looks great

a lot lighter than i was expecting, the case itself feels very lightweight but it should be ok

Only thing that annoyed me was there was a french power cable in the box - come on OCUK, you do great on the main stuff but the little things let you down sometimes!!!

I am only making this point so that others who are just placing orders can be reminded to specify an english power cable!!

(otherwise great work guys - thank you

Will be phoning the shop in the morning

Of course it is, but as the retailer OCUK should know this and accilbatise the packaging , even if they need to add £x to their price to incude a UK cable imo

My shuttle had the wrong psu lead as well, not a big problem, and more Shuttles fault than OcUK's. Doubt they have time to open every shuttle box to check for the right lead.

I would have thought that EVERY shuttle box would have had the same lead - not just some of them. Either way a £3 power lead from OCUK's point of view isnt exactly a profit ruiner, and it takes away from the gloss of having such good customer service if you have equipment you cant use for several days because of something relatiively simple.

Also remember that now an extra postage fee has to be paid ( by OCUK) along with the time of answering the phone, processing the order, picking and packing - maybe not much time but still wasted in comparison to dealing with a fresh customer.

Either way here is my final spec ( i added a few things I couldnt resist)

25P
X2 4200
7800 GT
2Gb GSkill ZX
2* 250Gb Seagate sata II 16mb cache in Raid 0
Dvd r/w
Dell 1905FP & LG 26" LX2R
ancient Sony av amp with creature II 2.1 speakers

( until hopefully next month when I will try and get some KEF 5.1 speakers)

Will post some pics up later

I had the 7800, X2 and an NEC dvd rw drive laying around (more of which later) however inc vat I spent just under £400 - but I hope to sell 2*1Gb of ram and a few other bits and pieces to get some of that back.

Anywayyyyyyy the windows install is just going ahead after a painless physical hardware install (it seemed like it anyway) until I got to try and installing windows....

the bios was detecting everything correctly and it was attempting to boot from the cd however it kept on failing for some reason. The dvd drive was powered and ide cable firmly in place and still no go

I thought hmmmmmm shuttle's cables arent always the best so I will change cable to one of my own but this didnt help at all. I tried a different windows cd just incase mine was damaged but again it failed.

Then I thought ok I will have to swap out the dvd drive with an old one I had laying around, an NEC 3520....bingo worked first time (even with shuttle's ide cable incidentally)

Just hoping that OCUK will exchange it even though its detected ok

I have to say I am not a fan of the shuttle drive rails in the slightest I just dont think they grip enough for my liking.

Anyway hopefully its just the long windows install slog to go now.

Along with the pioneer I will be installing a new 7600 GS Silent and a wireless usb stick, and that will have me up and running.

I have to say I was very impressed that OCUK confirmed placement of my gfx/ usb order, confirmed payment and shipped ( or as much as they can do ) all in under 50 minutes.

Well done OCUK

(Now I just have to sell all the old bits of hardware I have including the 7800GT)

Please dont say that I have just spent £90 on a silent graphics card, really thinking that was what was so loud, when instead i needed to spend £20 or so on quiet fans- ohhh well, the 7600 should be quieter than the 7800 by a good margin so thats what counts

Orifice said:
You shouldnt need to replace the fans, if the 25P is anything like the SD31P, then you can near enough silence them in the bios, or using XPC tools.

1st thing I did on initial bootup lol, down to ultra quiet. I think it is my 7800 thats makin most of the racket lol I hope..............

hi
a word of warning ,if you play any games set it to smart fan because the memory controller on the cpu gets to hot and causes crashes and lock ups
thank you for that - i dont think i will be however but good general point none the less. Most of my usage will be dvd's and music
