I need something to plug the following components into:

Intel Quad Core Q6600 95Watt G0 Stepping
4GB PC8500 RAM
BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC2 512MB GDDR3

Everytime I get keen on a board, I read that lots of people have various problems with it. I would like one which is as hassle-free as possible.

I'm not bothered about SLI tbh. Any suggestions please???

Yes, I intend to do some overclocking.

The P35 range has loads to choose from. Any suggestions in particular?? They all say 'Core 2 Duo support' but I need one which supports a Quad.

I liked the Abit IP35's but they don't seem to support PC8500 RAM which I want to get.

This is a gaming PC btw.

Don't really want to spend more than £160

That looks good psychas!

Just one question about the memory - it says it supports DDR 1066 (which is PC8500, right?) but what does the asterix next to it mean? I need to know that the board will run fine with my RAM.

Memory 4 x DDR2 1066*/800 / 667 MHz, Dual channel memory architecture

Thanks

The IP35 pro does support PC8500 DDR2 and i really recommend this board. :) I'm pretty sure the IP35 and IP35E only support PC6400 max.

they'll run 1066 no problem.

I would guesss that the * means only in overclocked mode (or similar) as there is no official JEDEC 1066 spec. & iirc Intel don't claim 1066 support for the chipset.

I've got the Asus and it runs spiffingly.

I notice that the guy above me has the IP35 Pro but recommends the Asus - why's that?

I can't see whats wrong with the Abit board - I know fornowagain among others is using it with some of the new 45nm quads very successfully, not to mention using the 3870x2's as well :)
