Hello, I have pre-ordered the KFA2 GTX 780.

I was wondering, would it be possible for me to switch my order to something else?

Am only asking for info at the moment.

Thanks in Advance.

As above, make a thread in the Customer Services section. Shop staff can see all the threads created in there, whereas customers can only see their own.

I won't close this thread as it is nice to see customers having their issues sorted.

Hiya, I don't have an issue at all! Was just ripping my hair out over the offer of a Powercolour AMD R9-290 with 8Gb of ram as well as the other goodies :)

After bitting my knuckles a lot I won't be giving up the 780, long term plan is 2x 780's and a 4k monitor, as well as some other stuff, when I can afford it all.

You can close it if you wan't, my question's been answered, thanks very much chaps:)

Perhaps a different question is in order.

I haven't kept up with 4k but there has been discussion that 3GB of VRAM might not really be enough.

Two cards still only gives you 3GB to play with.

The VRAM is shared, so two 6gb cards will still be 6gb not 12. I think that setup will be great for 14-1600p but not 4k.

To add to that; I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to or can't SLI two cards together with differing amounts of VRAM. Manufacturer doesn't matter but card type and VRAM amount matter.

Well, now I'm just confused......

Each KFA2 reference GTX 780 has 3Gb of Vram.

You're saying that 6Gb of Vram isn't enough to game at on a 4K Monitor, that it takes more than that, yes?

If that's right, it begs the question of what would I need to game at 4K ?

Edit: I was planning on buying a second card exactly the same as the one I am getting, a KFA2 Reference GTX 780. Each card has 3Gb of Vram. If I do buy both cards, then according to the review article linked on the OCUK info page for the new KFA2 Reference card that you can buy for £320+ Shipping, then having 2 cards and using SLI, it is equivalent to 1x GTX TITAN (roughly). Is that not enough to run a 4K monitor for gaming ?

Two 3GB cards will give you 3GB of usable VRAM.

Two 6GB cards will give you 6GB of usable VRAM.

I think they're saying that 3GB will be enough for resolutions like 2560x1440/1600 but for 4k you want 6GB.

Two of those Powercolors 290's in xfire you mentioned earlier would cut it but frankly you would be better off getting a nice 27" 1440p display. 4k technology is still in it's infancy and even as 4K begins to establish itself and prices come down companies are already started early concepts of 8k screens.

I would probably wait and get decent 1440p IPS display that support the latest display port standard, the adaptive sync technology is free for anyone to use and although AMD have stated they will support it with 'Freesync' it should only be a matter of time until Nvidia supports it as well. Of course that's just me, I like IPS if you like FPS's and play a lot online you might be better off with a 120hz/144hz TN panel for better response times and reduced input lag, for me I like the viewing angles, colour reproduction and sharpens of an IPS screen.

Seriously? Do they not realize that the rest of the technology hasn't even caught up to handle 4k yet? Or do you just mean 8k screens for like Movies and shows? I almost want to say that would be an overkill resolution for things like those but I'm sure people said the same thing about 1080p

8k will be just like 4K it will start off in TV's then work it's way down the product stack and eventually we will get 8k monitors but that's a way off yet. 4k is still in it's infancy, 8k is still in the womb.

Ok freddie, thanks a lot, will think about it.

Out of interest what's your current video card?

I would grab another 780 for sli, with an Asus Swift 144hz 1440p monitor. That setup will be awesome while waiting for stronger GPUs to run 4k at a later time. That's my plans. :D
