the father ?

LOL

Virgin Mary = 50/1.2
Holy Angel = 35/1.4 ?
The father.....1200/5.6...sorry, i don't work for Sports Illustrated :p

You could have made it difficult :p 24-70 with hood is second only to the 70-200 2.8 IS for obviousness :D

Nice lens though, although I have to admit I thought you already had one.

Narh, i once bought the Sigma 24-70 2.8 12 months ago, returned as it front focused.

Hired one for the wedding i did, loved it so much i had to get one, hiring it all the time makes no sense.

Nice one Raymond, although I thought you already had this, but I guess it was rented.

On a similar note.... MY 24-70L IS ARRIVING TOMORROW!!!!

My first L Lens :) :D :) :D

Next up:

135L
70-200L 2.8

Narh, that wedding was like a deadline, and I didn't quite had enough to get the 24-70 so i hired one. Now I own one :)

The 135L is indeed next, and then i'll be settled with my lenses...until the 85/1.2 itch gets too much lol

YEah, i don't think the 50 is that much different from the 85 in focal length. Hence the Holy Trinity for primes are 35, 85 and 135. Besides, i still have my 30D, and the 50/1.4 on the 30D is pretty close to a 85/1.8 on FF. Both in focal length and DOF. It's not a perfect solution but it's something i can live with. :)

p.s. the 24-70 has cleaned me out too ! :(

Well....I think the 50 is as sharp as a LOT of L zooms, its just I think L's have better colours and contrasts. :)

I will stretch it's legs properly in a few weeks, another wedding :)

:p

I always thought of it as a girl, however Richard may be a better name for it, it is rather long and thin...

Actually, I think I am doing to name my Brick - Veronica :D

As it's mainly a wedding lens, thought i'd give it that romantic touch. :p

My one seems to require a little more effort to zoom from 24mm to about 40mm, is this right? I figure it is like that to avoid 'zoom creep' (I think that is what it's called) when around my neck, but it could just be a dodgy lens.

AF is nice and silent :)

Mine is the same, i think its partly to do with the weight of the glass on the front end (the lens reverse zoom as it is at its longest at 24mm). Have the lens pointing down then turn and it won't be as tight compared to horizontally.

It's not too tight though, and it was the same on the copy I hired too, so I am not worried about it, it is not too much more effort and at least it is a gradual "tightness" as you get closer to the 24mm.
