Yeah the only difference between the two is that the Retail comes with Intel HSF + longer warranty (as far as I know) :)

I did wonder if Intel, or AMD would give the better batches to OEM's. I gues that must be where most of their cpu's go.
 
Oem or retail cpu for best overclocking potential?

people, look out for the Q6600 L745A stepping cpus, Week45, these are overclocking monsters and ocuk has a large batch of these in OEM, not seen one over 1.25VID and most arround 1.200 dead, i tested about 20 so far and ALL good.

Thanks cyz but I can't afford a quad core yet. :(

Gonna get an E2160 for now and start saving for when the new quads come out.
 
Well I should definitely get one of those seen as it's named after me! ;)

How much are we looking at for the E8500 then?
