OK so I bought my first new PC in 5 years last week (see sig) and I went a bit overboard on the games purchase front- I didnt want to post in 15 different threads so thought id do a mini round up of what Ive played so far.

Dragon Age - loving this so far, very engrossing.

Mass Effect - Bioware really are outstanding arent they? Cant believe I missed out on this gem because of my awful ex-pc.

Mass Effect 2 - sitting on my shelf.

Metro 2033 - taxing on my system with everything whacked up on full, but looks beautiful (if dark sewers are your thing)- enjoying it a lot so far, can see it getting a bit too linear though.

Stalker Call of Pripyat- yet to play, installed.

Bioshock 2 - yet to play, installed.

Just Cause 2 - WOW I LOVE THIS GAME. It looks stunning- after turning my xbox on after playing this on my PC, the xbox looks like a gameboy. I can see how it might get repetitive, but its everything I wanted GTA4 to be and more.

Modern Warfare 2 - you know what you're getting with this. Not tried multiplayer yet.

Dirt 2 - looks amazing, hard to steer without a controller though (need to go buy one).

Crysis - Really enjoying it so far. Had very few expectations, mainly bought this as a system benchmark tool lol, but It has surprised me.

Anno 1404 - how I miss RTS, gone are the glory days of AOE and Red Alert it seems, but Anno is pretty good. Took me a little while to get to grips with but I can see it eating my life away. Yet to try the expansion which I also own.

Battlefield BC2 - Had a couple of games online, seemed fun apart from the rocket launcher spam. Will come back to this game in future.

And there we have it lol- the briefest set of reviews you'll ever see.

Other things to note:
Razer deathadder is a lovely mouse- Ive never owned a proper gaming one before, it makes such a difference.

Having nice speakers with bass really help immerse you into the gameworld, no more crappy £10 Creative 2.0 speakers for me!

Anyone got any good tips for any of those games? No spoilers please.

Enjoy the spree, can't really give you any tips since you seem to be doing well heh. Gaming mouse (I got the same one as you) is certainly one of those things you don't think much about when you're using the cheap ones but once you try it, you just don't want to go back and yeah having a good sound system is certainly a massive bonus (it's an even bigger bonus if you got a decent soundcard).

yeah a spree it certainly is. I have that feeling like there arent enough hours in the day lol. My worry is that im not going to be able to get so engrossed in each game as im trying to squeeze in time to try each of them - I think im gonna stick with Dragon Age for now as Im enjoying it thoroughly so far about 5 hours in.

Dragon age is extremely good takes a few hours or more to get into but one of the best pc rpg games in a long while and took me about 40-50h to complete.

If you going to play Stalker CoP make sure you've played the other two as they are very good with the complete mods.I got 21 games to play through myself since i got a new pc last year having had a below par one for a while made me drift behind in game releases so got to catch up now.

I tend to play 3-4 a time until i complete each of them but keep them a bit varied, like one rts another a fps another a rpg or whatever and try to go through the shortest ones first.

Currently trying to complete Batman Arkham Asylum, Stalker CoP, World in Conflict and Tomb Raider Legend.:)

Metro 2033 - taxing on my system with everything whacked up on full, but looks beautiful (if dark sewers are your thing)- enjoying it a lot so far, can see it getting a bit too linear though.

IIRC its the coding of the game that causes that, remember a thread where someone wanted to upgrade their card just for this game, but it wouldnt make a difference.

Tbh i think the metro people have been paid off by nvidia (hence all the looks best on nvidia crap when nvidia don't even have a dx11 card) to shove all the dx11 settings far far above what they should be (ie the point whre visually there is zero difference but in terms of gfx number crunching it's massively more) so that it bogs down on ati cards.

then when nvidia release their dx11 cards there will be a patch for metro to put the settings back to sensible levels so all the benchmarks show how awesome the nvidia cards run it when compared to the unpatched ati benches.

I am in a similar situation to yourself, just recently upgraded my PC again. It isn't as high spec as your machine but it pretty much runs everything I want to play at high settings.

My current gaming to do list is:

Dragon Age:Origins (Close to completing this now, it has been bloody amazing)

Mass Effect 1 and 2 (Might be the next game I start)

All 3 S.T.A.L.K.E.R games

Metro 2033 (Have to say graphically looks stunning)

I'm in an MMO frenzy atm.

Have installed:

-SWG.
-LoTRO.
-Champions Online.
-City of Heroes: I'll re-sub that if the graphics update is decent.

Tips...Just sit down, relax and enjoy them.

I did the same thing, just before a LAN party (LeachLAN 4). I bought Dragon Age (now coming up to the end of my second playthrough), Mass Effect 1 & 2, Stalker: COP, SupCom2, Bioshock 2, Metro 2033, Crysis (and Crysis Warhead), UT3....

I just spent almost all my time playing L4D2.

I'd recommend adding one of the Left 4 Dead games (probably L4D2) to your spree. Also, buy Plants V Zombies. ;)

Plants vs Zombies is awesome- I think its my most hours clocked steam game atm (worked on the old PC unsurprisingly).

The source engine is also pretty resource freindly so I played a lot of L4D2 on the old PC too - good game for a few hours with mates. I stopped playing it after getting the Gnome all the way to the end on hardest difficulty only for the one survivor in our group not to pick him up from right in front of him and get on the helicopter.

I only picked up Crysis about 2 months ago, after getting a 5770. Really, really enjoyed it, even that certain section that everyone complains about. Best fps I've played in a long time.

heh, ive spent about 80 hours on Dragon Age.
Without a doubt the most addictive game for me in years.

I personally loved Metro, although it really taxes your system. But it looks dam good!
