ive made a thread on here before changing all settings appropriately, and i cannot get a 4ghz oc not even 3.8 theres a similar thread in overclocking in here with a long list of all the bios settings and what to change. -

ive even tried this and all it does is BSOD as windows logo starts to load. it wont have any of it.

it seems its if i change the voltage its when it starts to crash. can anybody help, does anyone have a full list of settings i can put in for my components specs ? i could tell you the batch my cpu came from iif that helps. i can get it to 3.4 on stock volts but obv to go higher id need to up the volt and doing so just makes it crash to bsod :/ maybe theres a setting somewhere that isnt right or maybe the volt has to be an exact setting for a particular blk and multi ? hmmm

Overclocking takes time, and requires research on your part. If you don't learn anything, and instead blindly enter values from a forum, then when it doesn't work you wont know what to do. Fortunately it's very easy to learn huge amounts about overclocking through Google, and then come back to a forum with coherent questions that we can help with.

There is one golden rule in overclocking a CPU = Let temperature be your guide.

Nothing else matters besides that at the end of the day.

What you need to do is see what your cooler's temperature are like at stock. Make a note of them. Then still at stock run some application that will stress your CPU and make a note of the temperature when the CPU is stressed. There are any number of such applications.

Once that is done come back here and post your results and we will proceed from there. The motherboard you have is a very good overclocking board and the ram will not hold you back either. But it is the combination of a number of factors that makes for a stable and good over clock.

if you turn off ht you should be able to reach 4.0ghz,also your volts are to low thats probaly why its crashing,i know your haveing trouble with your temps so you might not be able to increase the volts to much

i have another thread as ive managed to reach 3.8 with the settings i mentioned in the thread, here ill link it.

Whack the vcore voltage up, start at 1.300, test for stability, then start lowering it a notch or so, always testing with every drop in voltage. None of us here can give you cut and dried settings, as everybodys cpu, mobo and ram combo wil behave differently. Another thing i can seriously advise, read up on overclocking on your particular motherboard and cpu combo.:)

this for 4ghz ?

Yep, 1.300 vcore is a good starting point for clocking, yes its a little high for 99% of i7 cpu's, but if you can achieve stability at this level, start dropping the voltage down until you reach a point where the system fails a stress test or refuses to boot. With my own i7 920, i started on a low vcore of 1.18, this was good upto 3.6ghz, (21x163 bclk), when you hit the higher bclk rates, the voltage increments get higher. Example, i need 1.2750 in bios for my particular cpu at 4.0ghz. (21x193), qpi voltage is important as well, 1.300 is a good starting point, but always try to get it lower as well, always testing for stability, plus take notes of the settings and changes you make when overclocking.
