... what sort of things should I do to reduce the chances of getting a red ring! :p

Wrong forum. :D

Seriously just keep the console and the power supply well ventilated. I know you won't do it but don't ever move the console whilst playing a game as it tends to scratch the disk. I would personally have the console lying horizontally as it seems to be quieter that way but that's just a personal thing. If it's faulty (heaven forbid) there's not a lot you can do about it.

I wouldn't worry about the red ring situation until warranty is over tbh then you can open it up stick some better fans in and add some AS5 thermal paste.

Great, hope you really enjoy it!

I got mine at the beginning of this month and am totally loving it. I don't even have an HDTV yet :o :p

I'll have to try it on it's side as mine is being particularly noisy at times :(

This might be far fetched, but when the 360 overheats, isn't it the soldering thats the problem? After playing for ages and it reaching high temps, does the solder become a bit weaker? I've been thinking, will having the 360 stood upright mean that the components have gravity against them in the case that the soldering my be pretty weak? Would it be best to have it lying on its side? This might be complete bull...

I've got it stood up, I had it laid down but the plugs were behind it and it was getting very hot on the bottom and back, since I stood it up its been cooler and quieter. :)

I don't have an HDTV yet either I'm looking to get one out of my next pay but its too long awaaay! I cant read some of the text on Forza due to the crappy TV and it chops part of the left hand side off.

I'm really enjoying it, Gears of War just makes me drool while playing it.

I hope I can get a wireless adapter for it soon so I can get whooped on Fozra 2
