I keep losing my internet connection...

Hi,

I am using a 3com 11g Firewall Router. My ISP is Pipex. About 2 or 3 times a day I will lose my connection for 2 or 3 minutes. This never used to happen when I was using the freebie modem supplied by Pipex. I need to use the router as I am running two computers on it.

Any suggestions as to why it keeps doing this? Thanks.

#1. Update the firmware for your router
#2. Call Pipex/BT to do a check on your lines.

Thanks. How do I update the firmware? (Sorry, I'm not very technically minded, but can usually follow basic instructions!)

find your router model on the manufacturer's website, maybe under support or downloads, then get the latest firmware and install it.

And while you're at it, see if you can extract stats (attenuation, SNR margin, current sync rate) from the router. You'll find instructions for some hardware (but not necessarily yours) in the FAQ.
