seems somehow ive killed my explorer.exe on boot, and it wont start.

im running vista 64bit, is there any simple way to get it to automatically start again as windows does?

Cheers for any help

add it in the registry?

in the "start up" tab of msconfig, it shows where the run at start up entries are placed

added it to the registry in the right place. but it doesnt seem to work, mabye because i dont exactally know what to add to the registry or because i dont beleive the registry is even accessed until explorer.exe is running, therefore it wouldnt start it automatically.

any other ideas?

update. i cant seem to find the repair Vista thing. its not on the disc as i boot and i cant find it anywhere when vista's loaded

can anyone point me in the right direction?

When you boot up put the vista DVD in and boot from that, it should come up with the language selection screen, then the next screen should ask if you want to install, on the bottom left there is a text link that says repair installation.

done that. i selected "look for startup problems" but it found none. seems that i'll just have to wait to format to fix it.
