Be careful. Microsoft can be a pain in the ass. They replaced my console free for RROD last september. 4 months later the DVD drive crapped out. This was just a refurb they sent me. Rang them up and as I was out of the 90 day warranty they wanted another £90 odd pound to repair my broken refurb they had sent me. Ended up fixing it myself for £25 with a drive off ebay but no doubt something else will break at some point. Problem is most times they just send you out a refurb which you have no idea how it has been treated by the previous user.

they prob just replace the main board with the new heatsink design and fan

Quick update guys

It has officially left here for repair. Looks like (due to my lack of pulling finger out) I will miss the majority of the reach beta ..... typical.

I have noted my serial number down and if i get a crappy refurb'd back I will be rather annoyed. I treat all my stuff with great care (not a mark or blemish on this xbox) and if the fob me off with a lame replacement I will loose all faith

(not that i had much with MS to begin with)

Negative. My console was a late 2006. All the parts inside when i opened it up were of a newer date. The dvd drive was actually made in 2009 so didn't even last a year.

so did the board have the old cpu and gpu heatsink design?

My 360 took exactly a week to get off,repaired and come back.Sent out on a wednesday and got it back the following wednesday

But it was a loooooooooong week!
