I know this is sad but...

When I got my Mac the thing I loved most about it was the keyboard.

It's not the new ones they sell now, it was the version before it. Big chunky keys etc.

I loved it to pieces, I really did, the old style clicky noises of the keys, the bigger return key, the shape, everything.

Now a couple of months back my sister spilled a pint of water over the thing, funnily enough, it stopped working :(:(

So I bought a new one, and I get on with it...but I've had enough of it.

The keys feel horrible, the shape of it is horrible, it looks horrible, the return key is far to small.

So I've set my hopes on fixing my old keyboard - it's been sat on the shelf collecting dust so I got it down and plugged it in, the caps lock doesn't work - the arrow keys do not work - and neither does the numpad. Aside from that it's fine.

So I've taken all the keys out (I'm gonna give it a ruddy good clean as well! the amount of hairs that have fallen inbetween the keys is discusting! :p) and now I'm going to set about very carefully dismantling it to try and clean any moisture or anything that could be causing a short so hopefully it'll start working again.

God I'm sad, all this for a keyboard! :(

Here goes nothing...

You guys with spares aren't making me feel any better :p

I've cleaned the circuit board which has a scorch in it but never mind!! putting it back togethor...we will know soon enough! :)

WOOO :D

Just tested the arrow keys as they were not working and they now do! :D

Going to put all the keys back in now. :D

did you need a special key to open it up fully?

If you call a small alen key special, then yes :p

3 Allen Screws, and it falls to bits.

Then 1 million small screws on the back of the keyboard itself and it gives you access to the circuit.

I took some pictures, i'll upload them in a sec...just putting it back togethor and doing a million other things.

The keyboard isn't uite sound. I cannot type the letter Q (I'm typing on it now) and I have no idea how I managed to type it lol. It just makes me press return if I do. Oh, and when I type the letter A it puts the caps lock on....

Shame really, I spose the scorch marks on the circuit were always going to cause problems. :(

Oh, I can't use return either, not sure what it does, it just goes wrong when I touch it lol. Ah well, I'll have a look on the bay...

EDIT - If I push return it simulates pushing F7!
