and I have searched around BUT I want a definative answer because im ordering them tonight...............

Which set of headphones fo SERIOUS gaming and CASUAL listening to MP3's and movies. I have an X-Fi Xtreme and want to use it to the full potential.

Thanks in advance for the help,

Andy

For SERIOUS gaming, wouldn't 5.1 speakers be better than headphones? Anyway, since you're looking for headphones I would think something by Sennheiser would fit the bill. Have a look at their range and see what fits your budget.

I use Grado phones myself, but I would think Sennheiser with their bigger sound and more bass would be better for gaming.

What is your budget btw?

Hi, thanks for the reply, probably looking at 50 quid tops.

Cant be doing with speakers to be honest, got parents next door and stuff. Also good to have a inbuilt mic to use ventrilo.

Get 5.1 headphones they would be good, see if theres 5.1 headphones with a mic.

Im also interest in getting some 5.1 heaphones so ill see waht other people say.

Ive got some Beyerdynamic DT770's at the moment for audio but for gaming i need something with 5.1.

I got the Speedlink Medusa 5.1 headphones after reading some good comments about them on here and i think they're great for games and music sounds quite good with them as well. I'm no sound freak so wouldn't be able to tell the difference between these and another brand but they are fine for what i use them for :)

I've just ordered some Sennheiser PC160's from here £65 with delivery.

Done a fair bit of research are apparently they are brilliant. Should be with me by Friday.

How are the Beyer's doing for you josh? I've heard (no pun intended) that they are the best 'phones under £100 for movies and games.
I've also read that most 5.1 headphones are more of a gimmick. I would rather pay £100 for two very good speakers than the same price for 10 smaller speakers (unless they were of comparable quality). From my experience with two pairs of Sennheiser 'phones and the Bang&Olufsen Form-2's that I'm using at the moment, I can pick up movement behind me/around corners etc very well with a good set of stereo phones.

I only ask because I was considering getting the Beyer's based on recommendations for film and gaming. Just wondered how you found them for the games side of things.

Cheers
