i.Link help

New HDDV video camera. Just realised you can on transfer video from the DV tapes to a PC via an i.Link cable! Annoying, but i still have time over the weekend to sort this.

Do i need a specific cable that fits the Sony handycam? Should i go to the Sony shop in Bluewater and let them supply me? Will i be able to just connect it to a standard firewire port on a Mac or XP laptop?

Please help. Thanks.

iLink's just Sony's name for Firewire. Any 'normal' firewire cable will do you. Don't buy from the Sony store unless you enjoy being overcharged for things.

Yeah. Just called bluewater Sony...£20!!!

Will hunt my box for a firewire that'll fit. Thanks.
