I'm not a racist, but don't you think that Lava lamps are very relaxing and enjoyable to watch? Highly under rated I'd say and I highly recommend you get one. That is of course, if you can afford to run one.

I seem to have a thing for them lately and am on my 2nd one now. I remember them from the 70's and have always wanted one but never got around to it. I bought one last year and just added a new one. I prefer the new one.

Anyone else like to have one of these on in the evening?

This photo does not really do it justice, in the flesh, it's a purple background and orange to deep red globs.

I find that when most people start a sentence or thread with that statement, they then go on to be very racist indeed. I thought I would break that trend, unless you think Lava lamp colour is somehow racist.

I remember having one in my room as a kid. I assume you can't get low energy ones these days as LED bulbs wouldn't get hot enough to melt wax.

I'm not racist. I also had one when I was younger, blue fluid, green gloop. Really relaxing just to watch.
I'm not racist.

Used to have a nice orange and purple Mathmos one. Not sure what ever happened to it! Would 100% get one in an office/man cave. (Also not a racist, wish the troll could have been baited a little more in the other thread though).

Mum and dad bought a Mathmos copper coloured lava lamp back in the mid 70s and it's still going strong, my brother has it now. There was a programme on recently which showed how they're made from start to finish and it was utterly fascinating. I'm also not a racist and I wonder how much they cost to run these days because it's not something you can replace with an LED bulb due to them needing heat to work.

Damnit, now I'm probably going to buy one of the baby ones to put in the office.

/edit - The baby isn't actually shorter, it's just narrower. Oh well, I'll get the full size one then.

There are some very reasonably priced and non racist ones at the rainforest.

I bought one of the giant Astro Mathmos ones (Violet-red) a few Christmases ago. My mum loves it, has it on a smart plug to come on in the afternoon so its doing its thing by the evening while shes watching TV or reading a book.
