It's getting a lot colder outside, and because of this I've moved my rig next to my window. Getting 22c Idle on my Q6600 @ 3.6 1.5v. Load temps of about 40c :p

I wonder if it's possible for the water in the loop to freeze? :o

Well mine has'nt yet and i have had single figure idle temps and mid teens while gaming. My rad is permanantly mounted in a window and the coolant is distilled water with Zerex added.

how do you get the rad on the window? or outside, Ive had my pc on the window ledge (inside) and its made a difference but not significant.

I've tried with sub zero temps and it didn't freeze solid, it will at some point though. I have had the condensation forming on the rad fins turn into a solid block of ice.

My loop at -4C air temp.

My rad is mounted in a box on the inside window ledge. The window is opened by as much as i need or can stand. At the moment it's barely opened a crack as it's below zero outside. The rad is at the top of the box with three beastly 120mm fans sucking air through the rad and out the top. The window side of the box has a huge cut out which is filled with filter material so that no dust, beasties etc get sucked in. Basically my whole loop, apart from blocks, is exterior to the pc. The pump, res and it's own power supply is in another box that sits on my desk. The water get's to and from the rad on the window ledge via two 6 foot lengths of 15mm copper pipe that go through the interior wall. The main reason i went down this route is that my pc room is a large cupboard and i had to get the heat out of the room so i chose this set up. It works a treat for me. Winter temps are stupidly low and in the summer i never get above 40 degrees. :D

if i put my rig near my window i'd grow fangs and turn into a vampire overnight. but hell yea in this weather if i had the money i'd buy an antec skeleton and mount it on the side of the house, being halloween and all (get it, skeleton.. hallloween? muhh..)

Cant beat winter for low temps, got my q6600 idling at 26-25-20-19 on air coling, still gotta get the cpu and my TRUE lapped. so hopefully itll get beter.

Can we have some pics of that?

Here's my rad box. The soon to be built mk2 version will actually have the rad inside it. You can just see the tubing coming out of the box. It connects to a pair of 15-10mm step downs (although they are drilled out to 12mm). The step downs are attached to the ends of the copper tubing which then go through the wall and run down the inside wall on my pc room.

Here you can just make out the copper pipes running down the wall by the pump/psu/res box.

i love em an all

check out ma 4870x2 temps this is with my pc being on for 12 hours streight n all lol

gotta say congrats to ati for a brilliant silent cooler, even when england was hot, neva seen temps over 60c load

Wow, some really cool looking setups there guys. Reminds me of seeing someone who had hooked up a car radiator to the PC, I can't remember the details.

Feel like a fool for running on stock..!

Very nice! :)

Now you should really be pushing your overclocks harder, you may be suprised when you break your previous best records!

fornowagain & pastymuncher too!

I will be expecting something *special* from you both the next few days! ;)

Can't go any further. My E6600 has topped out at 3.8Ghz. Nothing more to give. :( Last night it was idling at 7 degrees and load while gaming was 15 degrees. It's not temps holding it back. It's just given it's all. :(

You have the same wallpaper as my little brother :D

It's not my choice. Then again, none of the decor in the house is my choice. I never get my own way when it comes to decorating. :(

Provided the water is moving (i.e. pump on 24/7) it is unlikely to freeze in UK temps. Nice idea with the window rad box, serious dedication to the OC cause :D
