Hi there I,m looking at upgrading my motherboard, but i,m aliitle confused about what to go for ,i have decided on my new CPU the C2D E6600 ,but not sure what is the best chipset 975x 965p or 650SLI ? I,m not an overclocker ,hence going for the E6600 ..help is needed thanks

Do you need SLI or Crossfire? What kind of budget are you on?

The 650 SLI seems to be one of the best all round motherboards for a budget oriented mind, as it allows you to get SLI and has two IDE sockets which is great for people with more than 2 IDE devices.

It also should allow you to overclock easy if you ever want to.

my budget is around the £80- 140 mark ..

@ Jamjar.

I can't comment on the 680I boards, but I have the P5N-E SLI and it is the best board I have installed so far. Really well layed out and the user guide that accompanies it is actually very usefull.

The Q connector is very handy and for once i got all my HDD lights and power buttons to work first time. The included IDE cable is a must as it is a tad longer than most as IDE 1 is located in the bottom right of the board and can be a stretch with a standard IDE cable.

Only gripe is the placement of the floppy connector. Means I have a big fat floppy cable running on the deck of my case.

If you ever fancy clocking your CPU (cpu and mem clocking are unlinked on this board, which is great for scaredy pants n00b clockers like me) then join the 650i thread and several guys in there will give exact BIOS settings.
