While I wait for a 3080 , I thought I’d have a go at water cooling my 2070 evga super with a ek vector rtx water block . The metal backplane was ‘difficult’ to say the least, to get off, the rest being straightforward. Apart from question over the thickness of the thermal pads I used I followed the ek instructions to the letter.
however on firing it up, the card wasn’t recognised. I reversed the process back to its original state, but still no joy. I happen to have another 2070 from Amazon on hand so was able to quickly prove its not the mother.
so what to do, apart from selling it for parts on eBay.
I assume if I dismantle it I should be able to see if it passes the MB test without anything on the board at all, switching it off before the OS kicks in. Could the thickness of the thermal pads (.5 instead of 1.mm ) cause it to fail?
any ideas ?
