Many many years ago, there are many titles

Novalogic F-22
F-22ADF
F-22 Raptor

Do you folks know of any other F-22 flight sim out there still available for sale?

Nice post. I recall it was a flight sim many years ago that got me into pc gaming- f29 retaliator by DID design. This was about 1995 I think. The graphics and whole concept just blew me away.
Don't know of any current f22 sims no. I don't seem to have the patience anymore to play flight sims properly :(

*Edit* - looking at the other posts in here and the dates (circa 1995), I think it must have been F22 ADF that I'm talking about. Just found a picture of the box and I remember it well!

Ran it with my voodoo2 card at the time and it was awesome. I had an F-something for the Atari ST that I'm probably getting confused about.

The awesome thing about the DID F22 games were the very large books that came with them detailing every vehicle in the simulator.

I seem to remember a sim called TAW (total air war) that was based on the F22
I could be wrong though as my brain is pretty much addled :D

I had F22 Lightning 2, guessing it was on the PC. Gunship2000 on Amstrad for old school goodness though :)

What about Aviator or Phantom on the BBC micro! :D

I expect there is an F22 download for microsoft flight sim however I don't know if it would be a detailed model. You can also only fly from airport to airport in it so not a military sim like F22 raptor was.

I would guess probably the most detailed / in depth military flight sim is products made by DCS. The A10, P51, Black Shark etc. I have the A10 one and it is VERY involved. Just purchased the X52 pro joystick as my old Saitek cyborg evo doesnt cut it and the hat switch is dying. Must resist buying rudder pedals though.....

Ah, four flight sims live long in my memory.

Fighter Pilot for the Speccy

F/A-18 Interceptor for the Amiga

F-29 Retaliator (also for Amiga)

And the one that sucked in most of my time, Gunship (also for the Amiga)

Wow, those clips bring back memories.

Seems odd really that given the time I put into these and how much I loved them that I've not played a single flight sim since I got my first proper PC in the late 90s.

There is supposed to be a F-22 module for DCS world in development by 3rd party IRIS simulations. Hopefully it gets the green light :)

If you're not looking for super high-fidelity simulation, the Strike Fighters series from Thirdwire is worth a look.

The base game is fairly limited, but there are literally thousands of mods/add-ons at CombatAce.com covering almost every military jet you can think of, including the F-22.

Here are some screenies from my (heavily modded) install:

I remember that at one point, virtually every month the latest 'best flight sim ever' was being released and most of them featuring the F22. The market for full on PC modern military flight sims seemed to die around that time too...

I was more a Falcon 3.0/4.0/EF2000 kinda chap.

Who remembers TFX ?

Never got past the first missions in any of the planes. :D To be honest I didn't care either. It was just worth the experience and I've never played a flight sim quite like it since. DiD had a unique take on the genre.

B17 Flying Fortress was my favourite Amiga flight simulator, it's more strategic than action though.

PC remake was nice too:

Have some good memories on the Amiga limping home with a half dead crew and on 1 engine only to cockup the landing. :o

Iris are supposedly bringing an F-22 addon to DCS: World. It's going to lie somewhere between the A-10 and FC planes in terms of fidelity. It's going to be the same, or a slightly improved, model as their FSX F-22. You can probably find a lot more info and screenshots of it on the dcs forums - http://forums.eagle.ru

Yes! That and F19 Stealth Fighter by Microprose, had them on my Atari ST. Many happy months spent blowing the bejaysus out of things!
