Some fella on the other side of the world has a 300 Meg iso that I need. I don't have anything like an ftp server for him to upload to - has anyone got any suggestions?

btw - the iso is an old discontinued Openmanage for a PE2300. Dell don't host/support it anymore - if anyone passing this thread has a copy email me please :)

(Dons please edit if not allowed but I'm pretty sure an old Dell dosa request should be ok?)

get him to add to archive with 7zip and split the files, then chuck on some free sites, or through email

or, post on cd?

Have a look at some of the free online file hosting sites that seem to be swamping the internet nowadays. A quick Google for a services with no file size limits (the main problem is not finding one with enough total storage, but one which allows such a large file) reveals SendThisFile.com. Doesn't look very professional, but you haven't got anything to lose! Failing that, there are probably quite a few similar services with no file size limits :)

how easy is it to get him to make a torrent file of the ISO you want? I remember my housemate doing it :) Just a thought anyway...

Just use the ftp wizard that comes with windows, easy to use, unlimited bandwidth and no extra cost, theres no reason to pay for hosting when his own pc can do it.

i can sort you 300mb of my webspace for him to upload it if you get desperate drop me a mail in trust and il see what i can do ;)

dont think theres any restriction on size but ive never found msn to be the quickest or most reliable way to send files so i wouldnt want to risk waiting for a 300mb file only for it to go wrong with a few mb's left

Can something like this be sent over MSN or is there a size restriction?

i'd sooner trust 2x empty rusty Asda smart price baked bean tins with an old cobweb between the two before msn messenger for that size!

Thanks for the offer blitz2163 - I've already emailed you (twice! its too early in the morning for me!), but the suggestion of yousendit looks like the one to go with, it appears to hold 1Gb for 7 days.

Thanks again guys :)
