E8400.. no bias towards it at all though :p.

But seriously, reaches 3.6ghz easily with no real voltage increase. Very stable, seems to handle most programs and games more than adequately.

edit: seeing your spec, possibly get an after market cooler, overclock your current cpu as much as possible.

The throw in a graphics card like the 4870.
 
A cooler for the CPU other than the cooler that comes with it. It can include anything from a £5 cheapo one to liquid nitrogen.
 
I think Meloco was getting at the fact that a E6550 is a perfectly decent CPU that when overclocked will rox your sox just fine :p
