Im after a usb dongle to get my PC online for a month, can anyone point me to a good deal/best one to get? I've no idea what im looking for myself, i don't presume ill be able to play games online using one though?

Ah i don't know exactly what they're called then but i mean the dongles for 3G style internet access. Only need one for a month tho

you mean mobile broadband...
wifi 3g hotspot or usb options. Honestly they're all pretty much the same, pick the best signal/speed/price etc for your location. Grab a 1month rolling contract or payg.

Ah ok, I didn't know if perhaps there were good deals to be had that might be worth pointing out? Best i can find is £15 for a 1 month contract of mobile broadband from 3 with a 10GB limit.

Only problem is i don't quite understand it, on the 3 website i click "select" on that mobile broadband 10GB deal and it takes me to another page where you can get the sim....do i need to buy the dongle seperately?

So if i buy a dongle on it's own, can i use the sim from my phone instead of getting a mobile broadband sim? or does that use the data from the "tethering" quota opposed to your standard "all you can eat data" on the plan?

£32 all in appears to be the cheapest i can get a dongle and 10GB sim for otherwise.

I wouldn't risk it. Can't you tether the phone to your PC?

I think some networks even sell a temporary upgrade (O2 call them bolt-ons iirc) that would officially allow tethering. I've tethered my O2 phones occasionally for a couple of years and nothing has come of it

Ah so it would count as tethering..I do have the tethering upgrade on at the moment but it's only got a 1GB limit, and i used 287mb in 2 days so i think that won't last :p

I've just bitten the bullet and gone to ebay, bought a huwai E353 dongle for £17 and got the £15 10GB limit sim from three. £32 is more than i wanted to pay but i'll think of the dongle as an investment for the next time i move house i guess :)

Cheers for the help chaps, especially pointing out ebay for the dongles!

Would it not have been more economical just to buy addiditonal data for the mobile and tether that? It would also mean not having god-awful USB modem software on your PC

There doesn't appear to be any way of adding additional data to my mobile tethering, even the price plan says "N/A" next to the additional MBs part, so i assumed it just cuts you off once you hit the 1GB limit?

Plus, i'd have needed to get a wireless card anyway as I don't have any form of wireless on my PC to communicate with my phone, and i can't see any way of getting it to act as a modem via USB. It's a windows 8 phone, on windows phone 7 you could stick it in to diagnostic mode and set it up as a USB modem but i couldn't find any info on how to do that with WP8.
