I haven't played a game that's brought any real emotion out of me for years. I want joy, sadness, fear, happiness and close friendship between characters in a game.

Shenmue wasn't to bad but that was years ago.

Please spec me a game.

Apart from my PC these are the consoles I use most often

GBA
DS lite
Gamecube
Wii

Fable 2 is hyping it as a major feature.

Other games that have brought emotion out of me:

The Darkness
nothing else springs to mind, not a very common thing for me, maybe oblivion?

I think the only game where i've ever 'cared' about what happens to the character was Mafia on the PC. The immersion factor was incredible on that game for me.

I know you haven't got one but Blue Dragon on the 360 looks full of emotion (watch the trailer).

The darkness has a few heart stopping moments and Enchanted Arms like most JRPG is full of emotive character interation.

Also Hotel Dusk on the DS has some emotive elements to the story.

Final Fantasy 7,8 & 10.

Baldurs Gate 1,2 and Planescape Torment.

Mafia

KOTOR 1 & 2

Deus Ex

Thinking about it there hasn't been much at all really. I haven't played them but maybe the two 3d Broken Swords?

The Darkness. I don't think you'll find any other game where you get that fluttery, nervous, sinking feeling in your stomach when you watch some of the scenes in it.
