Hi All,

Can you please advise me on who are a good webhosting service providers, i.e. have good uptime, good customer/technical support, and are generally really good to deal with.

Also, does anybody use a particular site for registering domain names?

Cheers,

Ross

Servage.net

This is the one im looking to change to myself this month.

Im in the process of building a store with oscommerce and at £63 for 14 months which includes free domain name, ssl certificate should you need it,360GB webspace, 3600GB bandwidth per month and free setup i think you'll find it hard to beat.

I currently have some hosting with servage.net and while it is "ok" it isnt great, especially for hosting database driven sites. We get lots of problems between the site and it's connectivity to the database server they have.

Their hosting can also be "very" slow, but it is fine for what I need it for as it is not critical and it is cheap hosting for sure.

However for more robust hosting I use Catalyst2.com very good, reasonably priced and exceptionally reliable, never had any downtime with them,

Dont know if anyone else has had any dealings with them, but I purchased a Platinum package from www.eukhost.com:-

http://www.eukhost.com/packages.php

Ticks all the boxes I required and at @£70 a year I think its cracking value for money.

The customer support is excellent, not tried them on the phone as I didnt need to, I just posted my problem on their forums and within minutes was getting replies and advice from the staff there. Had me sorted out in no time.

You can also register domain names through them too.

@chris74, that servage.net package sounds interesting as well. :)

Only let down is the MySQL database. My site loses connection to it sometimes, also they've complained to me once or twice about the size of my database (~130mb) a few times.

That isn't that big.... the db I'm working on was 540mb before I tidied it up.
