Right just came out of school with 3 B's at A level. In Maths Economics and ICT. Im looking for a job in which i need to make money to go travelling around february. I want something thats pays in the region of £7 an hour full time 9 to 5 kind of thing. Where shall i go to get a job ( i love near cambridge but also havea flat in london where i can work) ?? please help

If you can stay in London rent-free then go there, tons of temp jobs which will pay anything up to £10-12 an hour. Just put a CV together, sign up to a bunch of agencies and get whatever you're offered and work hard at it and chances are your temporary role will be made longer term.

Anything in the admin role should pay roughly what you are after and should use some of the skills you have albeit on a basic level.

Another option would be looking at a job say in a warehouse or something, for example around where I live Admin roles are normally paid 13-14k whereas the basic 'shop floor' jobs in clarks Distribution centre pay 14.5k - 17k depending on the shift.

This sort of thing would be worth a look if you arn't too bothered by the menial work. (and are just after the money)

my flat is in wc1 near kings cross station. WHere abouts are these agencies??
You have tons of firms around you then! Just walk down Grays Inn road and get company names, then ring them up and ask if they want any office junior work, lots of law firms are generally on the look out for a cheap runaround clerk or junior who they can keep on a bit longer if they like.

www.reed.co.uk is a good place to start for temp jobs

ohh i have had bad experiences with reed. I went to the one in cambridge and they basically told me to go away as you need experience in admin jobs which i dont have. I did this to a couple of agencies in cambridge and they said pretty much the same thing. This is what has put me off going into agencies. DO you think it will be different in london?

Hmm you might have a bit of a problem, could you not make some up? :p

That's why I reckon you should contact the firms directly, just call up and ask to speak to HR and ask if they have any office junior vacancies, for that kind of role they don't want to be interviewing loads of people or having to pay agency charges, it would literally be a case of just popping in the following day and if they like you they'll give you a job!

Good luck anyway!

With the greatest of respect why don't you get the local newspapers, visit the agencies, pop into the local supermarkets etc.

Generally follow the suggestion above.

I won't be the fist or last to say this but if you look hard enough you will find a job.

Short of actually doing the work for you everything else has been covered.
