I have no idea where to start looking and all the reviews I've found seem to be mixed.

I've just got myself a pair of GoldringNS1000's to replace my headset - the problem being that they are headphones so they don't have a mic.

So I need a mic to either clip onto the headphones or onto my shirt or something.

Any ideas, lads?

I've been using the Speedlink SL-8691-SBK Spes Clip-On Metal Microphone for ages now. I wish I could say that it was because it was "proper bo", but it's totally guff. To get any volume at the other end you need to pump it to levels that will pick up someone trumping in the next room.

I just haven't found anything better.

Google for Zalman ZM-MIC1 Microphone

I have some Zalman headphones with this on it, it works perfectly for me and it clips nicely on the trailing headphone cable.

I might have been a bit harsh on the speedlink, it works and you can't expect much, a fancy sandwich would cost more. It's just the the market for good clip on mics is non-existent. It's all cheap and naff stuff that does the job, just with less than spectacular results.

Please let me know how you get on. I'm not hopeful but I would love to hear good news.

I managed to get one for about a tenner. It sounds fairly good, but there's noticable background noise. The mic on my old £18 Advent headset sounded better but for practical purposes (not being able to use headphones and a headset together) this is for me. The cable's a decent length but, to be honest, I'm not sure if it's completely worth the money.
