Hey everyone,

I'm due a new monitor, how much will I need to spend to get a decent one? Not too fussed about size, 22" would be perfect.

Will be using it for gaming & photoshop.

Is £150 acceptable (especially in the sale!) ?

Thank you

Merry xmas xx:cool:

As you will be using it for Photoshop I can only assume you would like something with decent color reproduction and is also acceptable for gaming so my suggestion would be

Dell UltraSharp U2212HM 22=

Or if you wanted to go bigger then the

23" Dell Studio S2340L 23"
24" Dell Studio S2440L

You can see I am a big fan of dells but for your needs I think an IPS panel monitor would be what you need.

It is a nice screen but with it not being IPS or the same as the dell S2440L AMVA you are going to have poorer viewing angles and Black depth and contrast ratio will not be as good for your photoshop work.
It will however be better for gaming with a response time as low as that. The dell AMVA also is good for gaming and I think for your balance of photoshop with some gaming is a better choice.

Why that panel its 5ms on a TN panel is average at best and still has poor viewing angles and contrast ratio so not exactly great for photoshop. Sure if it was a basic panel for an office that would be fine.

As above the 24 is an AMVA panel it has advantages over the TN of better viewing angles and color and contrast but not quite the viewing angles of IPS. However it is also marginally better for gaming than the cheaper IPS panels with less ghosting. It sort of sits in the middle between TN budget and Cheap IPS panels. For your needs of photoshop and some gaming its better than a TN panel but not quite as good as one of the pricier IPS panels. If you fancy the IPS the 23" dell is worth going for.
