Yes, hmmm. I've had the same email account for years but things being what they are [whatever that means] I need another one - possibly one I can synchronise with Outlook/Windows Mail OR get webmail if I'm away from home.

Any suggestions? One that doesn't sound stupid like Wikkidmail.com would be good like. It has to look at least marginally professional.

GMail all the way. Got 99 invites if you want one..

If GMail can give me the above, please send me an invite.

Greatly appreciated.

Gmail (googlemail). Can access via POP3 and it leaves mail in the google servers, good spam filtering too.

Didn't google open up the signup process now? no need for invites?

Unsure! Sent an invite anyway. And yeah, GMail has POP3 as well as the (much better) webmail service, as well as a host of features such as tagging and filters and the like (and 2GB+ space).

Why not buy your own domain? Something like £29.99 a year will give you your own domain and 10 email addresses POP3, Webmail and 10mb of Webspace.

Thanks all, I've signed up for Gmail but I'm having problems synching with Windows Mail.

I get the following error message:

Account: 'pop.googlemail.com', Server: 'pop.googlemail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Cannot connect to POP server 72.14.215.16 (72.14.215.16:110), connect error 10060', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

have you enabled pop3 in the gmail options? did you you know you have to enable ssl? change the smtp/pop3 ports?

enable ssl, pop3 should be on port 995, smtp port 465 should do it. :)

Thanks,

I enabled SSL in Windows mail and changed the ports, but I got this:

Account: 'pop.googlemail.com', Server: 'pop.googlemail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR not supported 36pf2363804hub', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

I enabled POP within GMail options too. Not sure what it could be

works fine for me. i just setup my account in windows mail and it works fine. but i use pop.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com but that shouldn't make any difference.
