I need a phone. What's in my budget?

I can either pay up to 200quid, or I can pay 400quid. Reason being that I can either spend 200 on the phone, and 200 on something else (a secret!), or just spend the whole lot on a phone if it's worth it.

I currently do not own a phone:D I've been offered an iPhone4 for 150quid, but it seems a little bit dodgy. I don't really know anything at all about phones, I still remember the Nokia 3310 being cool:D

A few people have told me Android's are the way to go. All I care about as far as a phone goes:

Decent camera.
Internet capability.
Either a keyboard, or *usable* touchscreen.
 
To be honest, I only noticed this section of the forums today! Too busy watching Spiderman the movie to read through the threads though!
 
How does the Samsung Galaxy S compare to the HTC Desire? The Samsung is slightly cheaper it seems.

If I go contract (which I may well do), which should I go for? The Samsung is no more expensive than the HTC Desire it seems.

Also, which network would be best to go with? ;)
