basically im starting a new job soon which involves me getting up at stupid o'clock in the morning to get there for 4am. i have no other transport but my own 2 legs.

i only need a vehicle for the first month or 2 until i can get myself a decent car. it has to be super budget lol, rather not spend more than £200. also has to be very cheap insurance wise. dont really care what car or what condition, as long as it has 4 wheels and can get me to and from work. (work is only an 8 mile round trip)

anyone have any recommendations as to what i should look for?

cant see any golfs on autotrader that are near me :(

same with the 205's

Cant see people bothering to advertise such cheap cars, best asking round local car dealers and ask where their P/X bangers go. Round our way they all end up on the same lot!!

another question, if i do find a car, what about the insurance, ill only be using it for probably 2 months at the least, what sort of early cancellation fee's am i looking at? cant really do any day insure thing as im only 18

Seriously, look through the local freeads, call the local car dealerships, don't be picky about what it is and you'll get a bargain. You might even make a profit when you come to sell it on.

why don't you just transfer your insurance to the next car when you buy it?

Maybe you could just bike it instead, assuming you mean 4 miles each way that would only take 20 minutes at the most, probably much less hassle to be honest :)

A cinquecento 899s will be perfect to your needs. Probably reaching their lowest value point but are very good mechanical cars and are only 10 years old, it's hard to find a newer car for less cash.
They are group one insurance and easy on parking. Just go on ebay and look at what a good one without any major faults goes for.
Remember, even a 205 diesel would be an extra £60 in tax and is deffo not group one insurance.

thats a good idea. the group 1 insurance would also be a bonus.
just seen one for 250quid.

my gf got a mk3 astra 1.4 for £150 quid. it's run for over a year now, passed its MOT without issue. has needed a new oil filler cap, and a CV boot in that time. it leaks a bit of oil, and a bit of water, but not so much that topping it up once a fortnight isnt enough to keep it running

but that would involve effort :p Theres a reason I learnt to drive and that was to give my bloody legs a rest :p

type in "must sell" or something like that in Autotrader - normally brings up some bargains

as great advice said, phone around the local dealers and find some part ex baragins. As long as it runs and has a MOT you should be fine :) our Home 2 Rome volvo was from a dealer and bar the knackered boot and slightly dodgey electrics it ran like a dream for all of £100!
