My nephew needs a new computer for gaming.
Is it possible to get a full system (excluding mouse, keyboard and lcd) that will be on par or exeeding an amd 6000 gts 640mb? He had a look on a prebuilt for that price, but missed out on the buy.

I got myself an amd rig, just before the core2 intels and the many variations of gt's and gt's. And I find it a bit confusing, as to wich brand of cpu's and gpu's are faster than other.

So could you specmasters please aid me:)

came up with the following, 8800 GTS 512MB is included but if 500 is the absolute max then swap it for the GT version.

Samsung SpinPoint S 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD250HJ) £35.99 (£42.29)

Intel Core 2 Duo E2200 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.20GHz (800FSB) - Retail £48.99 (£57.56)

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £64.99 (£76.36)

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400C5 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit £24.99 (£29.36)

Antec Sonata III Piano Black Quiet Case - EarthWatts 500W PSU £66.99 (£78.71)

Samsung SH-S203D 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM £14.99 (£17.61)

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail£162.99 (£191.51)

Sub Total : £419.93
Shipping : £10.95
VAT : £75.40
Total : £506.28

Thanks, looks nice. Unclocked, will that cpu squash the amd 6000?
Otherwise the 6 £ something is within economy range, so spot on.

And how about the lcd jungle. You know any good lcd around the 150 £ mark?
