I need a upgrade for Crysis!!!

haha infact im not poor all the time.. just at this moment.

Then waiting may be your best option.

Any upgrade to that current setup wont be compatible with a more complete upgrade down the line... So in effect it would be money wasted.
Sit on your hands, work some overtime, sell some stuff and stash the cash ready to buy a more expensive upgrade.. MUCH better value for money in the long run.

Cheers,

And dont forget people i did say i would buy second hand...

Sam.

Yeh but even if u get second hand stuff, u will need a new motherboard / gfx card / cpu / ram and possibly PSU to make the game run pretty good

300-400 quid at least

Buy an nforce 4 based motherboard, something along the lines of an x1800gto/7600GT along with 2gb of ram and a 3200+ athlon 64. Another option would be the Pentium D 805 and overclock it it a lot, I got a B-grade motherboard for £35, the CPU is now £70~ and I got 2gb DDR2 off the MM for £70.

Best bet at the moment is wait until the game is out, as the longer you leave it, the better upgrade you are going to get.

when you want a hand, e-mail me with the ammount of money you have to spend and i will go shopping for you on MM. Im also willing to give you any advice you want regarding the building of it.

i would say you could get a half decent base unit built up with second hand parts for £285 and that can be done at any time, the only difference will be the parts youl get for the respective ammount spent on them.

Youll probably need a whole new system to get good GFX out of it, and a hell of a lot more than £60. Wait for it to come out then see how things stack up, but im pretty confident youll need:

-New CPU (which will mean new motherboard)
-1GB RAM
-New GFX card

and to be honesst, £60 would buy you one of those, but id deffo spend £60 on RAM rather than GFX as with 512mb RAM you wouldnt fully utilise a better GFX card.

The upgrade isnt in preperation just for that game but i want to upgrade because my rig is pretty crappy isnt it but i want to be able to upgrade and not have to upgrade again when crysis comes out.
just from that i would suggest that you wait until Crysis comes out, or at the very least we have a confirmed release date, and Windows Vista and DirectX 10 cards are released.

i personally beleive that a current high-end speced PC will run Crysis, but with its release so far away... with it's engine (basically) designed for next gen graphics cards and hardware... it probably wont run it very well.

if you NEED to upgrade now, i would just suggest upgrading your ram.
for around £60 you could get another 1GB of ram.

keep saving until DirectX 10 cards are released, and wait until Crysis has around 1 month (ish) until release. at least that way (in theory) you'll have a mid range range pc running Windows Vista and using a DX10 card, and not a low end machine running a £20 DX9 card
