I need advice between Two cards

RX580 with 3 games for £30(could buy an ssd for a few quicker loading games with that) less than the 1060 is hard to beat unless you want to stay with Nv which is sometimes better the devil you know familiarity wise being used to the layout.

on paper the 1060 6gb is a better card. how ever that said my 1060 and 580 play ever game i like maxed out, and they feel the same when using them
go with the 580, over a palit branded GPU

and TBF - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/powe...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-18n-pc.html

very close between the two there but with the 580 having being 8GB to the 570's 4GB would that help more gaming wise and down the line in a year or so or would 4GB be fine?

Thats what is holding me back on the rx580 familiarity as i have only really ever had Nvidia cards but my be time for a change :)

I have been looking at Two cards https://www.overclockers.co.uk/powe...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-18l-pc.html and https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pali...gdr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-04a-pl.html

My price range is from £200-£250 can anybody please advice on which card would be best or any other alteratives to these 2 cards that would be better in the price range thanks.

The 580 is a much better option, it's got a decent cooler & it comes with 3 games worth roughly £100, Add to that that it's £30 cheaper and the 1060 shouldn't even be a consideration out of the two.

The current AMD drivers package is at worst as good as Nvidia's, All you need to do is a DDU driver wipe and then install AMD's

There is also a cheaper Evga 1060 with included Evga 550W psu than the Palit you linked if you have a look around.

Outwith price, you can't go wrong with either tbph.:)

Agree with you there(and the AMD package is far better bfb on current pricing), just pointing out being accustomed to what you know can be
preferred over getting to know a new layout.:)

I did see that and was tempted as it would have been nice to have a new PSU your not helping me after reminding me about that haha.

Very true, When I sold my Fury and moved to Pascal I couldn't wait to get back to the familiarity of AMD's software and that was before the Adrenalin package was released. That said I did get used to Nvidia's driver package fairly quickly so they're no harder to use. Does Nvidia's software also include an overclocking feature now?

I'd imagine the lack of familiarity can equate to an uncomfortable initial experience resulting in 'rubbish driver' syndrome when in actual fact it works but because we don't initially know arse from elbow where to access settings=it's rubbish!:p

Nothing yet, they did show a new gui a while back that I thought would launch with Turing, but now they have the auto clock system for Turing using oc tools like AB, imagine Pascal and maybe Maxwell will get it in time.

I know right:D, depends what you have, if it's a good branded/quality unit then you won't need it but if it's a cheap and nasty one then the extra outlay personally would trump the AMD game bundle.

What you need to remember is the rx 570/580 doesn't have the horse power to use 8gb of ram the 4gb cards are fine unless your going to crossfire

Hi, I disagree, Nowadays textures are used to maximise the visuals because the impact they have on performance is much smaller than it is with other ways of doing it, Texture packs can use a lot of memory for a relatively low performance impact. If you tried to run as an example Fallout 4 with the high resolution texture pack a 4gb card won't run it, I tried with my 4gb Fury Pro and it was a mess, However my 8gb 480 runs the game fine with or without them. The performance difference between using the high res textures and not using them with my 480 was minimal, Rise of the Tomb Raider is another one where the ultra texture setting does little to lower performance but wrecks the experience with a 4gb or lower card causing pop-in's and missing textures.

In that price bracket th 580 or £215 is very hard to beat. My advice, snap one up before they all go.
