I'm in my second or three years and I've been really dissapointed with my course this year , a lot of the kit we have for some projects is old and brakes a lot, we've had few contact hours and the first term we weren't using equipment which was part of the reason that I chose this course. I think what had made me really angry with this course is when I asked to borrow 3rd year kit that other 2nd years have been allowed to and met with reasons that I didn't agree with.
Now i'm not sure what I want to do. I've started working in a kitchen several weeks ago and I really enjoy it, I wanted to do a catering course after college but I was put off by the kitchen I worked in over the summer and now it's got me thinking that perhaps I was too quick to change my mind back then. But I enjoy cooking so much.
My plan a couple of months ago was to finish this course and then go to Australia to work for a year and travel for a bit. I don't know whether to change course now and do a 2 year catering fda, or carry on with my original plans and just see where it takes me, if I carry on i'll just think that i'm going to be paying for a sub-standard service. I was close to breaking down yesterday, in tears as I worked hard to get onto this course and get work experience with a big named company, but this course is ruining my passion for it and I don't think I want to do it as a career.
I'm going to phone the uni counselling service today to book in an appointment.
