I need cardboard boxes!

I am having to move house at the beginning of July due to leaving my job, and so I need cardboard boxes to put my belongings into.

There was a time when you could just go and grab a load from behind the local supermarket, but those days are sadly gone. :(

Does anyone have, or know where I can get (for as little as possible) as many cardboard boxes as possible.

Usually the words "having to move house" and "cardboard boxes" in the same conversation has bad connotations. :p

Have you tried asking at your local supermarkets? Usually they have shedloads of them in the storerooms, and normally out of sight of the customers.
 
I'd suggest you speak to the IT dept at your local sixth form/FE college (assuming there is one around your area)

We replace around 300 computers every year at the college I work at and there are always tons of boxes left from that. The timing is just about right 'cos the computers arrive ready for delpoyment over the Summer hols and I'm sure the college will be more than grateful to you for taking some of the boxes off their hands! :D
 
supermarkeys will still have loads out back

they have to pay for them to be collected so you taking some wont do them any harm

Rolling replacement program I expect.

eg 1200 machines, 4 year life span = 300 replaced a year.

IT box idea seconded. We do a roaring trade in giving away tower PC boxes to people moving house. They bring them back when they are done for recycling

We have a policy - all computers must be under 4 years old. We lease the machines and then send them back to the supplying company to recycle at the end of the lease period. This way we have up-to-date computers for students/staff. It works out that approx a quarter of our total computer stock is around 300 machines.

I think most colleges use the Summer period to replace computers even if it's not to the numbers we work with.
 
Go into most high street stores on a Tuesday and ask nicely if they have any boxes or cartons. Tuesday is usually the busiest delivery day after the weekend. I asked in Schuh before my last move and they gave me lots of big cartons which otherwise would get left on the street for recycling.
 
Ask at your local mcdonalds if they have any fry boxes. They are great for moving things around (not too big, not too small), and normally they'll help out.

Also supermarkets and other places usually have them, just not at the end of the tills any more.
 
As said if you ask at a supermarket they can usually get you something. Try the customer service desk. Otherwise you can get some good deals on ebay jjust search for boxxes + house moving.

How come you've left your job? what you got lined up and more importantly where to?
 
Just ask your supermarket - they have loooads of them! You used to be able to just go to the end of one of the tills and grab some boxes from underneath but they've filled the void underneath it seems :p

I've decided after what will be 11 years, I need a change. I havent got anything lined up yet, but as my flat is attached to my job thats why I have to leave. Have started looking for jobs, as it stands I have to move back in with my parents because I wont get as good a deal as I currently have, and while my wages are likely to be unstable I basically have no other choice.

I still want to do something similar, I just hate the secondary school environment, particularly that of a high flying private school. Its making me miserable doing school work day in day out, and I need to put myself first. I love him to bits, and he deserves someone who wants to be there, thats just not me. Plus im flipping exhausted from doing what I do for 11 years.

I'd like to work with younger children I think, although I have contemplated looking at being a PCSO.
