So I've been planning on upgrading for a while now, especially after seeing the likes of The Witcher 3, Battlefield 4 and various Unreal 4 Demos. All i want is a rig that will be more than capable of running next generation games, a rig with better components than the next gen consoles. Im also a 3D artist and so require a fast computer for my work apps 3Ds Max and Zbrush, but any good gaming rig tend to have worked fine for me with thees apps.

My current machine specs are:
Phenom 2 Quad Core 3.2ghz CPU
Nvidia GTX 570 GPU
8Gb Of DDR3 vengeance 1600+ RAM
And an old MSI AM3 socket motherboard.

Obviously it would be ideal to spend as little as possible to achieve the best results but i could go quite far with the price. I also hear that AMD CPU's work better with radeon graphics cards, is this right and should i switch to AMD or stick with Nvidia?

I dont know where to start to be honest guys and i need help! Any replies from experienced PC builders would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: My budget could be from £500-£1000 I already have a good monitor, keyboard, mouse ect. and i have an antec 903 case so i dont think ill need a new one.

Thanks. Kyle.

If you need raw CPU power I'd choose Intel.

I'm not entirely sure whether it's worth upgrading your graphics card. The 570 is still a pretty good card to be honest. But if you really wanted to then 680's and 770's start from £264 and £320 respectively.

This is a mATX build. You can use your existing case or you could pick a new mATX case if yours is a full ATX and you'd like a slightly smaller computer. Also thought you could add the 8GB of memory you already have (assuming it's 2x4GB) and have 16GB in total if what you do for work would benefit from more memory.

What PSU do you have? If it's a reasonable quality one you might not need to change it.

Thanks for the recommendation, I dont really know what it is im looking for i just want to have the knowledge that i will be able to run the latest and greatest games :P

Im not entirely sure the brand i got but i think its a coolermaster 700w power supply

Your right i may not need a new graphics card i might just start with a new motherboard and processor and only upgrade the graphics card if i need to, then again i was planning on using all my old parts to build my fiancee a decent gaming pc :P
