As subject. I've put up with Google Workspace long enough and need to come up with a plan to migrate away. Having bought a house last year and trying to make home tech work better I'm coming across silly things like the Nest doorbell won't work with GW, or I can't invite my partner to our 'Home'). It's nonsense. I have a couple of regular Gmail accounts, one of which I'm happy to migrate my "life" into and use as a primary login. However I've spent the last week looking into this and it seems so complicated, different for every Google product etc. It's an absolute nightmare and I just want out :( I've had my G Suite account for 21 years, using it to collate various email addresses I've had along the way, using the calendar etc. so there is A LOT of content. Pretty much my digital life since before Facebook was a thing :(

Products that I use;
  • Gmail
    • 2x domain email addresses
    • 2x regular Gmail accounts via POP3
    • 1x Hotmail account via POP3
    • 1x Yahoo account via POP3
  • Drive
    • ¬100GB paid storage on 120GB plan
  • Google photos
  • Calendar (definitely want old events transferred somehow)
  • Keep (used heavily probably 500 notes or so)
  • Sheets, docs etc.
Going forward I'd still like to be able to receive (and send) email from my domain. Ideally I would properly transfer data from everything else into the new primary Gmail account (figuring out how to do that is a nightmare).

Any top tips, has anyone done this? I think I need to figure out a high-level plan before diving into exactly how I'm going to do it for each product :o

Do you have to stick with Google or could you migrate to some other platform? You would transfer email by using outlook and exporting it then importing it into new mail (unless GWS) has an export function to their free platform, which I highly doubt.

I don't use any Google products at all. I refuse to use them but in this instant I would come away from it all together and migrate the lot to a different platform.
