i need help with upgrading Graphics card

hi all i want to upgrade my graphics on my pc and im not to sure on what to get as there are loads of type and i dont no what ones fit my mb i have the asus m2npv-vm mother b

and i wanted to get this graphics card but i have no idea if its going to work

Your mobo has a PCI-ex slot so it will fit just fine.

Have you a GFX card atm, or just using the onboard? The only problem that you might have is that your PSU isn't powerful enough, or that it might not have the 6 pin PCI-e connector. So if possible check that.

Edit: btw that card is out of stock. There is also better cards for similar money, and much better cards for a bit more money- but that depends on your PSU

Yes, that is right. If it's the current PC that you are using then you could just check the back to see if there is any label with brand/model numbers etc and I might be able to verify it.

I have had a change of heart! Given that mobo is pretty old I am guessing your CPU would bottleneck a 4870 etc. What CPU do you have?

Assuming it's an X2 then:

The 4770 is good value- it would be similar to the 9800gt in preformance.(I would go for XFX over VTX as i know nothing about vtx).
The 4850 is some 15-20% faster than the 4770, or 9800GT.
There is also the 9800gt gainward for £70.

If your CPU is slow then you might be better of going with a slower GPU and just saving the money.

i have a amd athlon(tm) 64 x2 dual core processor 4800+ 2.50ghz


but i am running xp if that makes a diffence

Plenty of people are still running XP, np there.

Your CPU is fine. It will probably be a bottleneck in some games, but every system is bottlenecked somewhere- might aswell be your CPU! Any of the cards above would be a pretty decent match.
