Hi

I'm new to the forum, i have a couple of questions if you can help. I'm not an expert in this area so your advice will be appreciated.

Ive been looking at the following system on overclockers, just going to wait till the price drops a bit as i think it was around £1400 not long ago

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-216-OE

On the add on options i'd be including either an Asus HD 7970 or a Nvidia GTX 680, an SSD as the main boot drive and windows 7 ultimate.

The questions i have are as follows.

How does the Overclockers desktop above compare to an Alienware Aurora ALX R4 which was my last machine ? That went back due to a couple of problems. Would the overclockers machine be better ? I believe the Aurora ALX used a micro type motherboard, also the aurora was quite noisy even on idle, what would the noise levels be like from the Overclockers machine.

Here is the spec of my last machine.

Processor: Intel Core i7-3960X (Six Core Extreme, 15MB Cache) Overclocked up to 4.0Ghz
Graphics : 1.5 GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
1 TB 3.5inch SATA III Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
Additional Hard Drive : 1 TB 3.5inch SATA III (7200 RPM)
Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate Operating System
ALX Matte Black 875W Chassis
16 GB Memory (4x4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Quad Channel
Wireless: 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR USB Combo Adapter
Thermal Heat sink
Optical Drive : 8X Blu-Ray RW (Blu-Ray, DVD, CD read & write)
24X DVD/CDRW Combo Drive
Audio: Creative SoundBlaster Xfi Titanium Music Card (PCIe card)
English Genuine Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate (64Bit OS)
Dell 105 Key Soft Touch USB Keyboard Black

Many Thanks

What i will say:

-the processor in that system is overkill for gaming
- No way the price will drop by £500, I think it must'ved been a different system you were looking at
-Alienware are a massive fail with cheap components and crappy cases

Is this not the same system at £1420 incl VAT in the weekly deals ? the very first machine at the top.

I won't be mainly using it for gaming, i will be using the PC for video editing, watching blurays and TV, basically a home entertainment system that i can use for the internet as well.

Thanks for your opinion on Alienware, ive read similar opinions elsewhere, mine had numerous problems after just 2 weeks.
