I need some bad headphones (ok, read the bit inside)

I use speakers for gaming pops and bangs, but wear a headset for vent/TS so the kids don't hear the swearing. I had an old Microsoft headset with a mic, but the mic has now broken and the ear coverings have long since been condemned to the land fill.

I need a headset that is comfortable for extended use, which I can use for chat, but doesn't seal around the ear, so that I can still hear the game and the kids trying to kill each other in the room next door.

I tried a USB headset, but didn't like it as I kept plugging it into different USB sockets and had to reconfigure the chat software each time. I also have 2 sound cards and I use the Soundblaster for the game's sounds on the speakers and the chat mic input, whereas the onboard sound is chat headphone output.

Can anyone recommend a suitable headset, as I just get overwhelmed by the amount of choice. The one thing it needs is a decent mic, as bad ones are terrible.

Cheers,

K

Somehow I don't think you read the post.

Edit: Have a look at the Sennheiser PC-111 and PC-121, they are single-earpiece headsets with decent enough mics so you should still hear the speakers loud and clear.

Sounds like a good idea. Although anything that isn't sealed like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-013-LG&groupid=702&catid=22&subcat=502 would probably be ok as well.
