Just started a new job, hectic times, and I still haven't got around to sorting out an ISP. Whenever I look on thinkbroadband and DSL zone I come out even more confused than before.

I'm looking for ADSL, preferably more than 2mb and uncapped (although any usage limit over ~25gb would be good I suppose). I generally download quite a lot, listen to radio stations, surf, but I may also add an xbox360 in the near future.

Ideally I'd like to keep it under £15p/m, but if that's not possible I don't really want to be going over £20p/m. Oh, and the contract must be sixth months or less. I can't commit to a long contract.

My exchange is St. Peters.

I'll also be after a cheap but decent wireless router, so any recommendations are welcome.

Plenty of other posts on ISPs as far as I can see. A bit of searching around will help ya. Also a couple of comparison sites kicking around. Let me see if I can find the link.

Although I ain't sure about 6 month contracts.

edit: here is one http://www.comparebroadband.co.uk/

^ Im on the same and have been for a good few years now. Always been a solid ISP and only time i had problems of any kind was when Entanet were moving over to their new system but its been fine since then, 1 month contract ;)

You can get TalkTalk basic phone and broadband for a fiver.

I wouldn't go with them again though. O.o
I here good things about O2.

either virgin or BE,if your into onlinegaming dont even bother looking at talk talk as the connection is crap

Ths is why I've been having difficulty choosing.

I need a contract of 6 months or less, it has to be on my exchange (obviously), I'm after usage of at least 20 odd GB p/m. All this for under £20.

Is it possible? ADSL24 look like a good bet, but I'd rather keep searching to see if I can get anything cheaper than that.

The adls24 package is only £19 a month on a monthly contract.

It is the cheapest you will find and offers more bandwidth than you are after.

I assume you already have a phone line I assume paid to BT so this is the cheapest option for 6 months.

You do know you can usually transfer the service with your BT line should you move somewhere else ?

Why cant people read simple posts LOL.

OP stated 6 month max. Sky etc are like 18month contracts or something.

You wont find anything cheap than adsl24 with a 1 month contact and the allowance of cap. Dont forget 12mid night to 8am is not counted in the cap and also 12midnight Friday - 8am Monday is all non cap also.

Vivaciti has a very similar package, but a little more webspace. Can anybody comment about them?

I use them for the Surfwise package, 75gb allowance although this is averaged over a few months so you can go above it. Speeds have been very decent at all times of the day for gaming, http / ftp downloads and torrents. Had the connection drop once but came up fairly quickly, their support are pretty good too. Even ring you back if you hang up before speaking to them.
