I need some help - PC freezing when playing games

Directx is up todate!

This happened about a week after i bought the pc way back when.

My pc is clean anyway, but i reckon i can safely right off dust. Thanks though! All suggestons welcome!

With either GPU?

trying second now!

Will ry the sound thing after this!

Going to disable overclocking on the graphics card too.

- see whether you have any jumpers set in the graphics card.
- last solution may be is to try with another graphics card or test with one Graphics card.

No idea what a jumper is, sorry :(

And I have just done the swapping of both graphics card thing.

Same problem.

So it may be that both gfx cards are broke, or neither and it is something else.

Okay, disabled all sounds devices on the pc. Still died. Same problem.

I am now going to take the CMOS battery out. See if that helps.

Trying everything everyone suggests. And no, I dont have another PSU to try :(

All the the drivers are 100% up to date. Also, keep in mind this problem has occurred since I have had the machine, on several games and with 4 years worth of drivers.

The only thing I hven't done yet in relation to drivers is the the MB BIOS. I just couldn't get the thing to work at all.

Since only some games have problems, this may be related to resolution of the screen, try to find details of that game which is not working.Check whether it can run with two GPU.or only with one with a particular resolution.

Okay, so I have done all of the above.

Apart from updating the motherboard BIOS, andtrying to play it in a smaller resolution.

I shall try those now.

Any more suggestions? What the hell is wrong? :(

reinstall the games you are having problems with only fresh install or go into the game folders and see if there is a game repair file try with the game uninstalled for a good period sort of a burn test then reinstall it and try again

if all is fine with out that game its not your pc its the game go to the game website forums and look for fixes..

added people normally assume its a hard ware prob but sometimes it can be a game problem in its self just remove the games u have problems with then install them one by one test them and see what one actually does the dirty deed

Right, I just turned the overclocking off on the gfx card. Its an option that hasn't been there before, so I have given it a go.

Game has been on so far for longer than it has ever managed to date. Gonna leave Shepherd idling in the spot it crashed, and see how it goes.

If this doesn't work, what do you suggest?

I feel lik I have exhausted my options, and as craarc points out, it seems like it may just be certain games disagreeing with my pc for one reason or another.

If this hasn't managed to fix it I think a little bit of me will die inside. :(
