im just after building my new amd64 set up but have run into some problems !

i've got a new asrock 939 dual sata 2 mobo,
new amd 4000+ san diego cpu, audigy extreme soundcard,
2 x 512 kingston 3200 ram, new raptor 74gb hdd,
freezer pro 64 heatsink, 550 w psu, xfx 6600gt agp graphics,
nec dvd writer, samsung cd writer, coolermaster aerogate 2 fan controller.

heres my problem, when i 1st plugged it in & turned on the power off switch on the psu,
the pc started up its self, tried the front power buttons but that & the reset button wasnt working,
thought i'd maybe set the headers up wrong, checked them all ok, tried again,
same thing, the pc fired up but there was no picture on the screen ( no signal ),
checked the GC & the fans runnin ok, checked every connector but they all seemed ok !
i then checked the jumper on the raptor was set ok, 1&2, ( is this right ? )
then i had the brainwave of checking the thickness of the AS5 thermal compound
( as this is the 1st time i've used this, on my last rig, i used akasa's thermal pads )
took off the heatsink, cleaned the base, the cpu & put new compound on, ( slightly thinner )

i then tried the pc again, it started straight away again but this time it switched off after about 2-3 seconds !

i've tried the GC,SC & ram in an older 1800+ & everything worked ok.

im now totally stumped & havent the foggiest on what to do now ?

any help or tips is most welcome

i used this before to run a 2500+,2 x 60gb hdds, 1gb ram, 2 writers, aerogate, 6600gt, audigy1 sc, floopy, Coolermaster aero 7 & 4 x 80cm fans.

itS never crashed like this before ?

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious but you did plug in the 4-pin power connector to the board as well as the 24-pin right?

There is a massive thread on that mobo here - may be worth a look incase someone else has had a similar problem

good luck

yep, put the 4 pins in, ( good job i spotted it in the manual ) ;)

thanks for the link, started reading that yesterday, only got another 60 odd pages to get thro tho

ok what about just plugging in the basics ie:

one hdd
graphics card
cpu (don't forget the cpu fan though)

so no other fans, no dvd and see if it'll boot

When it did start up that time, were there any bleeps/beeps/peeps at all?

it beeped once,
i did try it with 1 ram stick & then swapped them about,
+ i tried both of them in the 1800+ runnin at pc 2100 speeds.
