I am looking for a list of good bits to build a new PC, my current comp is a AMD Barton chipped 3200+ with a 6800 series AGP card, been a while!

I think I want an Intel chip, been looking at low power GO (I think) Q6600 on an overclock friendly board, a good air cooler, a good Nvidia card to run games quickly at reasonable resolution (I play games on a lovely clear old 19" CRT, so not hugely high resolution needed at the moment) but I like the effects and stuff up high.

I want a nice funky case with lots of big slow fans to keep it quiet.

I need reliable storage, so ideally a RAID setup for safety (Haven't done one of these before)

I will spend between £700 and £900ish inc. VAT

Oh, does it matter which version of windows I get 32, or 64 bit? IS there a difference?

Thanks.

This would do very nicely. It includes Vista 64 (there's little difference between this and 32-bit except this will work with 4+ GiB RAM), a fast quad core, a great cooler, an excellent power supply, 4 GiB RAM, a very nice future-proof motherboard that'll do nicely for overclocking, all in a decent case. If by "funky" you meant something that didn't light up like a Christmas tree I suggest the Antec P182.

EDIT You should be made aware that new graphics cards will be made available in a few weeks. IT might be worth waiting to see how good they are for their prices.

Many thanks,

As to the case, I'm thinking, quiet, and not beige!

What are these new graphics cards?

What will they do which is better than a 8800 GTS or GTX?
