Many years ago I was very much into gaming and my powerfull rigs, at the time i was a massively keen ut player and i was running a 2500+ amd cpu overclockeed with a 9800pro gfx card.

Now many years have passed , my computer has laid redundant and my knoledge of hardware means nothing as i speant the last years of my life building track cars.

I want to get back into pc gaming aswell as learn some web design (currently doing some css tutorials) and would very much appreciate help in designing a pc.

Im looking for somthing that will allow me to experiance crysis in its glory aswell as make me feel it was worth spending the cash rather than leaving gaming to my ps3 and xbox360.

I still have a large antec case with the large sliding door on the side with side window etc?, is this now pretty outdated and will a new case be a bonus.

My funds are not endless but id like to build a good speced rig, so could you all give me some advice as now days none of it means a great deal to me. I have spotted the monitor im going to purchase (dell 24inch £187).

Thanks for any help in advance.

to be honest i cant remmber what ram is actually in it, other than its 2x 1gb sticks. I think its clocked at 3200+ speeds, was a really simple clock back in the day.

Only thing im worried about case wise is mine only has 2 front fans, 2 rears and 1 side, whereas cases now appear to have much larger fans and just look so much more efficiant.

to be honest i wasnt planning on keeping any of the original system as its pretty outdated, asus a7nxe-delux mobo rings a bell. It was a really common system to achieve a decent fps on ut2k4 as i was very serious on clan based gaming.

sweet, that seems very much ideal then. What graphics cards are reccommended as ive noticed now there seems to be so much on crossfire and all this (means nothing to me yet) back then it was agp 8x was the cutting edge.

So whats recommended and whats on offer?

yea, i did read up on the new gfx cards being released, my only worry is much like any of the latest hardware, is it not the case that usual when you buy the latest tech available you pay well over the odds, simply because its teh latest thing out , or are they promising that the additional performance will be worth the extra £££.

My plan is to build the pc in 4 weeks or so, ill also need a o/s i guess as im still using xp .

one can only hope i guess, really uming and aring about keeping my case or not now, maybe i will paint it as im a bit bored of it being black. Orange would make a welcome change i think.

just to add this is the same as my case , is this ideal ?
